Well-Dispersed Trifluoromethanesulfonic Acid-Treated Metal Oxide Nanoparticles Immobilized on Nitrogen-Doped Carbon as Catalysts for Friedel-Crafts Acylation

Xi Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, heterogeneous trifluoromethanesulfonic acid immobilized nitrogen-doped carbon-incarcerated titanium nanoparticle (NP) catalysts were developed, showing high activity for Friedel-Crafts acylation with low titanium loading. The addition of metals further changed the nature of the acidic species and enhanced catalytic activity, providing a promising approach for organic transformations.

Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Enables Heterogeneous Asymmetric Insertion of Carbenoids into Amines Catalyzed by Rhodium Nanoparticles

Ryusuke Masuda et al.

Summary: The development of a stable heterogeneous catalyst system using Rh nanoparticle catalysts supported on nitrogen-doped carbon has allowed for successful asymmetric catalysis reactions, achieving high yields and enantioselectivities of chiral alpha-amino acid derivatives. Nitrogen dopants played a crucial role in both catalytic activity and enantioselectivity, with the catalyst showing reusability in seven runs and efficiency in a continuous-flow reaction for over 90 hours.

Sequential Continuous-Flow Synthesis of 3-Aryl Benzofuranones

Hai-Long Xin et al.

Summary: A sequential continuous-flow system has been developed for the efficient synthesis of 3-aryl benzofuranones. The initial cyclocondensation and subsequent Friedel-Crafts alkylation were catalyzed by the same heterogeneous catalyst, leading to the preparation of a commercial antioxidant with high yield. Reactions with various aromatic compounds proceeded well under flow conditions, providing high yields of 3-aryl benzofuranone derivatives with good functional group compatibility.
