Simultaneously Crafting Single-Atomic Fe Sites and Graphitic Layer-Wrapped Fe3C Nanoparticles Encapsulated within Mesoporous Carbon Tubes for Oxygen Reduction

Xun Cui et al.

Summary: A simple and robust approach was employed to synthesize one-dimensional hollow tubular carbon-based materials with highly efficient oxygen reduction reaction performance. By simultaneously crafting single-atomic Fe sites and graphitic layer-wrapped Fe3C nanoparticles, the Fe-N-doped hollow mesoporous carbon tubes were successfully prepared and used as the ORR electrocatalyst. The impressive ORR performances of the Fe-N-HMCTs are attributed to the favorable configuration of active sites in conjunction with the advantageous 1D hollow tubular architecture.

Synergies of Fe Single Atoms and Clusters on N-Doped Carbon Electrocatalyst for pH-Universal Oxygen Reduction

Mengjie Liu et al.

Summary: By embedding Fe single atoms and clusters in N-doped carbon (Fe/NC), a synergistic enhancement in pH-universal ORR catalysis via the four-electron pathway is achieved. Experimental and computational analyses reveal the geometric and electronic structures of catalytic sites in Fe/NC, showing that neighboring Fe clusters weaken the binding energies of ORR intermediates on Fe-N sites, enhancing both catalytic kinetics and thermodynamics.

Enhancement of the visible-light absorption and charge mobility in a zinc porphyrin polymer/g-C3 N4 heterojunction for promoting the oxidative coupling of amines

Wen Zou et al.

Summary: A zinc porphyrin (ZnP)/CN heterojunction photocatalyst with improved efficiency for oxidative coupling of amines to imines under visible-light irradiation was synthesized by combining CN and a zinc-porphyrin-conjugated microporous polymer (ZnP-CMP). The significantly enhanced catalytic efficiency was attributed to the promotion of visible-light harvesting and photogenerated charge mobility via the introduction of ZnP-CMP. The ZnP/CN heterojunction photocatalyst also exhibited excellent broad substrate scope, stability, and reusability.

Li Gong et al.

Summary: FeNX species can be the active sites for adsorption and activation of reactants in Fe single-atom catalysts. The combination of FeNX species with granular zero-valent iron (ZVI) can result in catalyzed reductive decontamination of groundwater contaminants. The newly developed N-C-mZV(Ibm) material showed higher dechlorination rates for trichloroethylene (TCE) than bare mZV(Ibm), especially at a wide range of pH values.
