Ubiquitination and degradation of NF90 by Tim-3 inhibits antiviral innate immunity

Summary: NF90 is a virus sensor that initiates antiviral immunity by triggering SG formation, but its regulation by the Tim-3 pathway results in degradation of NF90 and inhibition of antiviral response. Activation of Tim-3 during VSV infection recruits TRIM47 to degrade NF90, but targeted inactivation of Tim-3 enhances SG formation downstream of NF90 and protects against VSV challenge. These findings provide insight into the crosstalk between Tim-3 and NF90 in antiviral immunity.
