National Trends in Robotic Pancreas Surgery

Richard S. Hoehn et al.

Summary: The use of robotic pancreatic surgery is increasing nationwide, with improvements in mortality and lymphadenectomy for robotic-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy and a decrease in length of stay for distal pancreatectomy. There were no significant changes in other outcomes, and academic and non-academic centers had equivalent rates of key surgical outcomes and survival.

Robotic gastrointestinal surgery: learning curve, educational programs and outcomes

Charles C. Vining et al.

Summary: The robotic platform for gastrointestinal surgery has been in use for nearly 20 years, with significant growth and advancement in the last decade. While offering advantages over traditional surgery and demonstrating similar oncologic outcomes with improved short-term results, there are still limitations and a need for wider implementation of educational modules to reduce the learning curve associated with robotic surgery training.
