This study reports fourteen species of Thalamoporellidae from Paleogene-Neogene sediments in the western Kachchh region of Gujarat, India. It includes two new species and new combinations for two previously classified species. Additionally, the reassignment of one genus to another family is proposed.
Here we report on fourteen species of Thalamoporellidae (Bryozoa, Cheilostomatida) from Paleogene-Neogene sediments of the western Kachchh, Gujarat, India. Among these, eleven species are already known from these sediments, whereas two species, namely Thalamoporella badvei n. sp. and T. bhujensis n. sp., are new to science and one is left in open nomenclature. New combinations for two species originally placed in the genus Thalamoporella are also suggested: Dibunostoma transversum n. comb. and Reniporella reniformis n. comb. The genus Reniporella currently placed in the family Steginoporellidae is here re-assigned to Thalamoporellidae mainly based on the position of the opesiules.
