Identification of risk factors for obstructive cholecystitis following placement of biliary stent in unresectable malignant biliary obstruction: a 5-year retrospective analysis in single center

Jang Han Jung et al.

Summary: The study identified independent risk factors for acute cholecystitis following biliary stent placement in patients with MBO, including biliary stent across the cystic duct orifice (OCD), gallbladder opacification during ERCP, and the use of self-expandable metal stents (SEMS). Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage (GBD) showed good technical and clinical success rates in the treatment of acute cholecystitis.

Antibiotic prophylaxis in ERCP with failed cannulation

Summary: This study analyzed data from nearly 100,000 ERCP procedures in Sweden and found that prophylactic antibiotics significantly reduced overall and infectious complications in patients with failed biliary cannulation during ERCP.

Laparoscopic versus EUS-guided gastroenterostomy for gastric outlet obstruction: an international multicenter propensity score-matched comparison (with video)

Michiel Bronswijk et al.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of EUS-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE) and laparoscopic gastroenterostomy (L-GE) in gastric outlet obstruction management, finding similar technical and clinical success rates between the two. However, EUS-GE showed shorter time to oral intake, shorter hospital stay, and lower rate of severe adverse events compared to L-GE.
