Synthesis and Characterization of Co-ZnO and Evaluation of Its Photocatalytic Activity for Photodegradation of Methyl Orange

Muhammad Adeel et al.

Summary: Photocatalysis using Co-ZnO as a catalyst showed superior efficiency in degrading organic pollutants in wastewater, particularly methyl orange dye. The inclusion of 10% cobalt in Co-ZnO significantly enhanced its photocatalytic activity, leading to faster degradation compared to pure ZnO. The presence of cobalt inhibited electron-hole recombination, contributing to the improved degradation of the dye.
