Photoelectrocatalytic degradation of p-chloronitrobenzene by g-C3N4/TiO2 nanotube arrays photoelectrodes under visible light irradiation

Bingrui Ma et al.

Summary: The g-C3N4/TNAs photoelectrodes exhibit excellent visible-light response, efficient charges separation, and high redox potentials of electron/hole, which are favorable for p-CNB degradation. The simultaneous roles of reductive electrons and oxidized species, as well as the dependency on photo-generated holes and center dot OH for mineralization, were crucial during the dechlorination process. The Z-scheme g-C3N4/TNAs provided an efficient approach for simultaneous dechlorination and mineralization of refractory pollutants.

Abiotic Transformation of Nitrobenzene by Zero Valent Iron under Aerobic Conditions: Relative Contributions of Reduction and Oxidation in the Presence of Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid

Chuanyu Qin et al.

Summary: The study found that zero valent iron can degrade nitrobenzene through both reduction and advanced oxidation under oxygen-limited conditions. The contribution of center dot OH to the degradation of nitrobenzene increases with time, with reduction remaining the main pathway of transformation. The balance between ZVI, dissolved oxygen, and iron-complexing ligands is crucial for the optimal removal of organic contaminants.

Visible-light-driven photoelectrocatalytic degradation of p-chloronitrobenzene by BiOBr/TiO2 nanotube arrays photoelectrodes: Mechanisms, degradation pathway and DFT calculation

Bingrui Ma et al.

Summary: BiOBr modified TiO2 nanotube arrays photoelectrodes showed higher PEC degradation efficiency for p-chloronitrobenzene. Hydroxyl radical and photogenerated holes were the main active species responsible for degradation. However, the coexistence of dissolved anions and humic acid could decline p-CNB removal rate.
