Insights into the mechanism of enhanced photocatalytic dye degradation and antibacterial activity over ternary ZnO/ZnSe/MoSe2 photocatalysts under visible light irradiation

Yan Yang et al.

Summary: The development of photocatalytic techniques for environmental remediation heavily relies on efficient charge migration and broad-spectrum optical absorption in promising photocatalysts. Ternary ZnO/ZnSe/MoSe2 heterojunctions show superior utilization efficiency of visible light and higher separation efficiency of photoinduced electron-hole pairs compared to binary counterparts. The mechanism of photocatalysis involving ZnO/ZnSe/MoSe2 is thoroughly explored, revealing enhanced degradation efficiency of pollutants and microbial sterilization.

Synthesis of an efficient, and recyclable mesoporous BiVO4/TiO2 direct Z-scheme heterojunction by sonochemical route for photocatalytic hydrogen production and photodegradation of rhodamine B dye in the visible region

Hisham S. M. Abd-Rabboh et al.

Summary: Sonicated mesoporous BiVO4/TiO2 heterojunctions show high efficiency in photodegradation of dyes and production of hydrogen gas. The optimum concentration of BiVO4 is 10 wt%, generating hydrogen gas at a rate of 14.3 mmolg-1h-1. Ultrasound radiation plays a key role in reducing particle aggregates and increasing the concentration of active sites.

Summary: The current work involves the synthesis of In2O3/MoS2/Fe3O4 hybrid nanomaterial and their application as photocatalysts for disintegrating esomeprazole under visible light illumination. The data from various analyses confirmed the successful construction of the desired nano-scaled hybrid photocatalyst with a band gap of around 2.15 eV. The synergistic effects of the components enabled efficient photocatalytic performances of the nanocomposite, achieving a photodecomposition rate of up to approximately 92.92% within 50 minutes.

Fabrication of novel polyaniline/ZnO heterojunction for exceptional photocatalytic hydrogen production and degradation of fluorescein dye through direct Z-scheme mechanism

Mohamed S. Hamdy et al.

Summary: Direct Z-scheme heterojunctions have shown exceptional reactivity in recent years in various photocatalytic processes. A hybrid polyaniline/ZnO heterojunction was synthesized for removal of fluorescein dye and production of hydrogen gas under visible light source. The key factor in optimizing hydrogen gas production and photocatalytic degradation is the amount of polyaniline. The results suggest that polyaniline enhances light absorption and provides additional electrons for the production of H2 gas.
