Nitrogen absorption behavior and mechanism of TiZrMnFe getter alloy

Lei Li et al.

Summary: The getter alloy of TixZr1-xMnFe(x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4) was prepared and its nitriding behavior was studied, showing that nitrogen absorption amount increases while absorption rate slows down with the substitution of Ti. The nitrogen absorption process involves surface N-2 absorption and dissociation, nitrogen atom diffusion, formation of (Zr,Ti)N phases, and growth of (Zr,Ti)N particles into saturated barriers.
