Tracking the heat-triggered phase change of polydopamine-shelled, perfluorocarbon emulsion droplets into microbubbles using neutron scattering

Mark Louis P. Vidallon et al.

Summary: The study utilized neutron scattering techniques to observe the phase transition of polydopamine-shelled perfluorocarbon emulsion droplets into microbubbles upon heating, showing that the transition temperatures are higher than the boiling points of pure liquid perfluorocarbons. Analysis and model fitting of neutron scattering data allowed monitoring of droplet size distributions at different temperatures, providing valuable insights into the transformation of these emulsion droplet systems.

Tumor-Associated-Macrophage-Membrane-Coated Nanoparticles for Improved Photodynamic Immunotherapy

Cailing Chen et al.

Summary: Cell-membrane-coated nanoparticles, particularly those derived from tumor-associated macrophages (TAMM), show promise as an antitumor therapeutic strategy. TAMM exhibit unique antigen-homing affinity capacity and immune compatibility, with potential to enhance antitumor immunity efficiency via activation of antigen-presenting cells and production of tumor-specific effector T cells in metastatic tumors. TAM-membrane-based photodynamic immunotherapy offers a new personalized approach to tumor therapy.

Summary: The study fabricated NE-derived CDs with green luminescence, showing pH and concentration dependent fluorescence behavior. The multiple functional groups on the CDs allow them to alter fluorescence intensity and peak position in different pH conditions, demonstrating significant potential for live-cell imaging and blood sample detection. Additionally, a simple and effective method based on the inner filter effect was developed to determine the concentration of hemoglobin in diluted human blood samples, showing good linearity and a low limit of determination.

Exploring the transition of polydopamine-shelled perfluorohexane emulsion droplets into microbubbles using small- and ultra-small-angle neutron scattering

Mark Louis P. Vidallon et al.

Summary: This study utilized small- and ultra-small-angle neutron scattering techniques to observe the in situ phase transition of polydopamine-stabilised perfluorohexane emulsion droplets into microbubbles during heating. Results indicated that the phase transition temperature of PDA/PFH emulsion droplets is significantly higher than the bulk boiling point of pure liquid PFH. Analysis and model fitting of the scattering data provided insights into droplet sizes and interfacial properties at different temperatures, revealing the transformation process of these polydisperse emulsion droplet systems.

Size-controlled synthesis of bioinspired polyserotonin nanoparticles with free radical scavenging activity

Keuna Jeon et al.

Summary: By manipulating the base systems and solution pH, researchers have influenced the formation rate and particle size of polyserotonin-based nanoparticles, improving the efficiency of nanoparticle synthesis. Synthesizing at elevated temperatures has dramatically reduced synthesis time from days to hours, making the application of PSeNP more convenient. Furthermore, the similarity between PSeNP and serotonin in free radical scavenging property demonstrates the potential of PSeNP in antioxidative therapy.
