Parametric study on interply tracking in multilayer composites by analytic-signal technology

Xiaoyu Yang et al.

Summary: Researchers proposed using ultrasound and analytic-signal concepts for reconstructing the internal ply structure of composites, analyzing the errors of interply tracking based on a wide range of parameters. The study also provided guidelines on improving the performance of the interply tracking procedure in practical measurements. Experimental results showed that the combination of analytic-signal procedure with a standard log-Gabor filter in the frequency domain efficiently derived the interply tracks of a 24-layer composite laminate.

Ultrasonic Imaging of Thick Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers through Pulse-Compression-Based Phased Array

Muhammad Khalid Rizwan et al.

Summary: The study investigates the use of pulse-compression in ultrasonic non-destructive testing, which, when combined with linear phased array, improves sensitivity and resolution in ultrasonic imaging of highly attenuating and scattering materials. The results indicate that the pulse-compression technique performs better in far-field imaging with greater accuracy.

Differential evolution algorithm with fitness and diversity ranking-based mutation operator

Jianchao Cheng et al.

Summary: DE is a global optimization algorithm that relies on mutation operation and individual positions. This paper introduces a new mutation operator, FDDE, which assigns suitable positions by considering both individuals' fitness and diversity contributions. The experimental results show that FDDE outperforms its competitors in convergence performance on various benchmark sets.
