Comparison of HIV Screening Strategies in the Emergency Department A Randomized Clinical Trial

Jason S. Haukoos et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare strategies for HIV screening integrated into usual emergency department practice. Targeted HIV screening was not found to be superior to nontargeted screening in the emergency department. Nontargeted screening resulted in a higher number of tests performed, but all strategies identified relatively low numbers of new HIV diagnoses.
