Phase stability and microstructure morphology of microwave-sintered magnesia-partially stabilised zirconia

Guo Chen et al.

Summary: This study introduced microwave heating into the preparation process of zirconia materials to improve stability and microstructure of MgO-partially stabilised zirconia (MgO-PSZ). The effects of microwave heating on phase stability, microstructure, and surface morphology were evaluated, showing that microwave treatment significantly increased the stability rate of MgO-PSZ sample. Additionally, a decrease in m-ZrO2 phase content and improvement in microstructure were observed in the microwave-sintered MgO-PSZ sample. This research provided optimal microwave heating conditions for enhanced performance of MgO-PSZ material and laid a foundation for further research on zirconia materials prepared using microwave heating technology.

Anion-immobilized solid composite electrolytes based on metal-organic frameworks and superacid ZrO2 fillers for high-performance all solid-state lithium metal batteries

Tao Wei et al.

Summary: The novel anion-immobilized solid composite electrolytes based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs, UiO-66-NH2) and superacid ZrO2 (S-ZrO2) fillers show high electrochemical stability and ionic conductivity, leading to enhanced performance in solid-state lithium metal batteries (ASSLMBs). The incorporation of UiO-66-NH2 and S-ZrO2 in PVDF-HFP polymer results in a high Li-ion transference number (t(+)) of 0.72 and a high ionic conductivity of 1.05x10(-4) S center dot cm(-1) at 60 degrees C.

Low-calcination temperatures of magnesia partially stabilized zirconia (Mg-PSZ) nanoparticles derived from local zirconium silicates

Kristanto Wahyudi et al.

Summary: PSZ exhibits excellent properties and is used in various applications such as thermal barrier coatings, refractories, and implants. In this study, MgO concentration was varied in the preparation of PSZ nanoparticles, influencing the phase transformation of ZrO2 at high temperatures. The presence of PEG during preparation helps in the evolution of PSZ nanoparticles.

Surface treatments and its effects on the fatigue behavior of a 5% mol yttria partially stabilized zirconia material

Ana Carolina Cadore-Rodrigues et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of different surface treatments on the fatigue behavior and surface characteristics of 5Y-PSZ ceramic. The results showed that low-fusing porcelain glaze, silica nanofilms, and silica-coated alumina particles did not negatively impact fatigue behavior, while alumina particle air-abrasion damaged the fatigue outcomes.

Deposition Behavior of PS-PVD Yttria Partially Stabilized Zirconia Coatings

Jiasheng Yang et al.

Summary: PS-PVD technology allows for coating deposition mainly from vapor phase. This study investigated the deposition mechanisms of yttria partially stabilized zirconia thermal barrier coatings fabricated by PS-PVD, exploring the effects of deposition time, spray distance, and deposition angle on the coatings' morphologies and non-line-of-sight capability. Residual stresses, crystal orientations, and crystal size distributions in the coatings were analyzed using various characterization techniques, enhancing the understanding of the deposition mechanisms of PS-PVD coatings.
