Rainwater Harvesting with Polyethylene Film Covered Ridges for Pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.) Seed Production Under Semiarid Conditions

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of rainwater harvesting techniques with polyethylene film-covered ridges on pumpkin seed production under rainfed conditions in Kayseri, Turkey. Results showed that wider covered ridges resulted in significantly higher seed yields, especially in the second year with improved plant density and application of nitrogen at sowing. Therefore, utilizing optimal plant density, proper covered ridge width, and applying nitrogen at sowing under rain-fed conditions can effectively increase pumpkin production in semiarid regions.
