Effective Chiral Discrimination of Amino Acids through Oligosaccharide Incorporation by Trapped Ion Mobility Spectrometry

Chengyi Xie et al.

Summary: Chiral analysis is crucial in various research fields due to the different biological functions of enantiomers in living systems. In this study, a new method using oligosaccharides as chiral selectors was developed to effectively separate chiral amino acids by TIMS-MS, showing promising results in the separation of chiral AAs.

Automated Chiral Analysis of Amino Acids Based on Chiral Derivatization and Trapped Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry

Jonas M. Will et al.

Summary: A fast and fully automated method for chiral analysis has been developed by combining chiral derivatization with high-resolution trapped ion mobility separation. The method allows for rapid chiral analysis within 3 minutes per sample and is robust in samples containing high amounts of salts. Highly sensitive detection of amino acid diastereomers was possible down to the lower nanomolar concentration range, with excellent reproducibility and precision in determining enantiomeric ratios.

Direct and simultaneous recognition of the positional isomers of aminobenzenesulfonic acid by TIMS-TOF-MS

Fangling Wu et al.

Summary: Positional isomer recognition is a challenging scientific issue, and the simultaneous recognition of ABSA isomers using TIMS-TOF-MS was achieved by measuring different ion mobility or spatial conformations. The study also demonstrated a method for relative quantification of the isomers with good linearity and precision at different molar ratios.
