Perioperative and Oncological Outcomes of Robotic Versus Open Pancreaticoduodenectomy in Low-Risk Surgical Candidates A Multicenter Propensity Score-Matched Study

Qu Liu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the outcomes of robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (RPD) and open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD). The results showed that RPD had significantly lower estimated blood loss and shorter postoperative length of hospital stay compared to OPD. There were no significant differences in operative time, major complications, or 90-day mortality rates between the two groups. For patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, RPD had advantages in terms of blood loss and hospital stay compared to OPD.

Robot-assisted pancreatoduodenectomy with the da Vinci Xi: can the costs of advanced technology be offset by clinical advantages? A case-matched cost analysis versus open approach

Gregorio Di Franco et al.

Summary: Robot-assisted pancreatoduodenectomy (RPD) and traditional open pancreatoduodenectomy (OPD) were compared in terms of costs and post-operative course, showing no significant difference in overall variable costs (OVCs) due to the advantages of RPD in terms of lower hospital stay costs and similar operative time with OPD. Higher material costs of RPD were partially offset by clinical benefits and similar personnel costs.

The Impact of Intraoperative Frozen Section on Resection Margin Status and Survival of Patients Underwent Pancreatoduodenectomy for Distal Cholangiocarcinoma

Zhiqiang Chen et al.

Summary: The benefits of intraoperative frozen section (FS) for obtaining a secondary R0 resection in distal cholangiocarcinoma (dCCA) patients are controversial. The study showed no significant difference in survival between FS and non-FS groups, but patients in the R0 group had better survival outcomes compared to the R1 group.
