Microstructures and mechanical properties of a cast Al-Cu-Li alloy during heat treatment procedure

Summary: By investigating the microstructures and mechanical properties of a novel cast Al-Cu-Li alloy during heat treatment, it was found that a relatively good combination of strength and ductility was achieved after natural aging. The complex precipitate distribution, decrease in density but increase in size of certain phases, and the presence of precipitate-free zones near grain boundaries were identified as key factors for the improvement in performance.

Crystallization-dependent transition of corrosion resistance of an Fe-based bulk metallic glass under hydrostatic pressures

The introduction of a Ni60 interlayer significantly enhanced the bonding strength between the coating and substrate, leading to improved corrosion and wear resistance of the magnesium alloy.

Summary: The corrosion behavior of L-PBF-produced titanium alloys in body fluid is investigated in this study. Compared to static Hank's solution, dynamic Hank's solution leads to lower charge transfer resistance and higher passivation current density for Ti-6Al-4V. Additionally, more deposition of apatite and hydroxyapatite is observed in dynamic Hank's solution.

Experimental results confirmed the validity of the numerical model.

The crystallographic corrosion and its microstructure in an Al-Cu-Li alloy

Summary: The study systematically investigated the localized corrosion behavior and microstructure of an Al-2.23Cu-0.96Li (wt%) alloy using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was found that the GPB zones in the alloy do not significantly affect the overall propagation direction of crystallographic corrosion, but are closely related to the formation of nanoscale localized corrosion morphology in the crystallographic corrosion.

Corrosion inhibition characteristics of multilayer Si-DLC, phosphating and anodizing coatings deposited on 2024 Al alloy: A comparative study

Summary: This study evaluated the corrosion protection characteristics of anodizing zinc phosphating conversion coatings and Si-DLC multilayer coatings on 2024-T3 aluminum alloy. Results showed that the Si-DLC coating had the highest corrosion protection, while the anodized sample exhibited selective corrosion after 30 days of immersion in 3.5% wt. NaCl.
