This suggests that mercury in fishermen's blood may impair the oxidative status of blood cells and lead to a reduction in oxygen uptake capacity and damage to erythrocyte membranes. The activity of antioxidant system enzymes was also significantly reduced in the exposed group.

Only the KBr/KBrO3 and KMnO4 systems showed quantitative oxidation to Hg-ino, demonstrating high sensitivity and accuracy under optimized conditions.
