Hierarchically porous carbon derived from potassium-citrate-loaded poplar catkin for high performance supercapacitors

Xiaodong Luo et al.

Summary: A simple one-step method for preparing biomass derived carbon materials with hierarchical pore structure for supercapacitor application is proposed. The carbon materials exhibit interconnected carbon networks with macropores, small mesopores and micropores, and different temperature carbonization results in varying properties such as surface area and electrical conductivity. The electrodes based on these carbon materials show high specific capacity and stability, with S-850 sample displaying superior specific capacity at low charge-discharge current density and S-900 electrode showing high specific capacity under high current density. The symmetrical devices based on S-850 demonstrate superb stability and high energy and power densities in alkaline electrolyte.

Controllable synthesis of nitrogen-doped carbon containing Co and Co3Fe7 nanoparticles as effective catalysts for electrochemical oxygen conversion

Xiaodong Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, nitrogen-doped Fe/Co bimetallic electrocatalysts were prepared using adjusted metal-organic frameworks, showing excellent oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity and methanol crossover tolerance. The desirable performance is attributed to the uniform distribution of Co3Fe7 active sites, electron density modification, and hierarchical pore structure with large surface area.

Construction of hierarchically porous 3D graphene-like carbon material by B, N co-doping for enhanced CO2 capture

Zhangfeng Shen et al.

Summary: The unique B, N co-doped carbon nanomaterial (B/N-CNs) is composed of B, N co-doped graphene-like carbon nanosheets (BCN) and hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) domains with a hierarchically porous structure. The enhanced CO2 selective capture ability of B/N-CNs is attributed to abundant ultramicropores within the hierarchically porous structure and suitable electrostatic interaction between CO2 and adsorption sites on BCN nanosheets and h-BN domains.
