Soil chemical and fertilizer influences on soluble and medium-sized colloidal phosphorus in agricultural soils

Maelle Fresne et al.

Summary: The study found that medium-sized P-coll in soils was mostly unreactive P associated to some extent with amorphous forms of iron. Higher soil maximum P sorption capacity was correlated with lower concentrations of medium-sized P-coll, while soluble P concentrations increased with increasing DPS.

The influence of lime application on the chemical and physical characteristics of acidic grassland soils with impeded drainage

D. Corbett et al.

Summary: Soil acidity and poor nutrient use efficiency are major limiting factors on heavy soils. Lime application can counteract these factors and improve agricultural output. This study found that granulated lime is more expensive than ground lime for reducing soil acidity, and high treatment rates are effective in reducing acidity, aluminum, and iron concentrations without negative effects on soil physical structure.

Efficacy of the Nitrification Inhibitor 3,4 Dimethylpyrazol Succinic Acid (DMPSA) when Combined with Calcium Ammonium Nitrate and Ammonium Sulphate-A Soil Incubation Experiment

Niharika Rahman et al.

Summary: The new nitrification inhibitor DMPSA, when combined with CAN and AS fertilisers, significantly reduces the nitrification rate in sandy loam and sandy soils over an 80-day study period. This demonstrates the efficacy of DMPSA as a nitrification inhibitor when used with these fertilisers.
