Summary: The development of efficient non-noble metal catalysts for water splitting is challenging due to the sluggish kinetics of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline medium. This study reports a bimetallic multi-level layered catalytic electrode with excellent HER electrocatalytic performance in alkaline medium. The electrode exhibits high catalytic activity, stability, and abundant active sites, providing support for the design of high-performance bimetallic electrodes for industrial water splitting.

Summary: This study presents a novel assembly of cobalt-doped interface- and defect-rich MoS2/Ni3S2 hetero-nanosheet anchoring on a hierarchical carbon framework for alkaline HER by directly vulcanizing NiMoO4 nanosheets. The resulting hierarchical electrode shows excellent performance with low overpotential and small Tafel slope in alkaline solution, indicating a potentially feasible strategy for the design of heterostructure-based electrocatalysts.

3D-Stretched Film Ni3S2 Nanosheet/Macromolecule Anthraquinone Derivative Polymers for Electrocatalytic Overall Water Splitting

Summary: The new polymer electrode AQS/S, composed of Ni3S2 nanosheets and macromolecular anthraquinone derivative (AQD), shows excellent activity and stability for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions. In 1.0 m KOH solution, AQS/S exhibits low overpotentials and high durability, outperforming the state-of-the-art catalysts. Moreover, the AQS/S||A-AQS/S two-electrode system demonstrates superior electrocatalytic activity for overall water splitting.

W2N/WC composite nanofibers as an efficient electrocatalyst for photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution

Summary: A tungsten-based electrocatalyst, W2N/WC composite nanofibers, was synthesized using electrospinning technology and high-temperature carbonization and N-doping. The composite nanofibers showed superior catalytic activity for hydrogen evolution in acidic media with a low overpotential of -495 mV at a current density of -50 mA cm(-2). The method used in this study offers a new possibility for the rational fabrication of high-performance electrocatalysts.
