The role of octadecylamine as zirconium phosphate intercalating agent on poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) biodegradable systems

Daniela F. S. Freitas et al.

Summary: Biodegradable ternary systems based on poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)/octadecylamine-containing zirconium phosphate were studied. The synthesis and intercalation of lamellar zirconium phosphate were accomplished. The interaction between PVA and ZrPOct was prominent, and the addition of octadecylamine altered the polymer-polymer interaction acting as a compatibilizing agent. This study provides a potential approach for controlled drug delivery.

Adsorptional-photocatalytic removal of fast sulphon black dye by using chitin-cl-poly(itaconic acid-co-acrylamide)/zirconium tungstate nanocomposite hydrogel

Gaurav Sharma et al.

Summary: In this study, the efficient removal of FSB dye from water was achieved using Chitin-cl-poly(itaconic acid-co-acrylamide)/zirconium tungstate nanocomposite hydrogel. The nanocomposite hydrogel was fabricated by microwave-induced sol-gel/copolymerization method, with the zirconium tungstate photocatalyst prepared using co-precipitation method. The maximum removal percentage of FSB dye reached 92.66% in 120 minutes under adsorptional-photocatalysis conditions.

Organic Dyes versus Adsorption Processing

Francisco J. Alguacil et al.

Summary: Even in the first quarter of the XXI century, the presence of organic dyes in wastewaters was a common occurrence in several countries, requiring their removal due to toxicity. Adsorption processing emerged as a widely used method for achieving this goal, with various adsorbents being utilized for the removal of different types of organic dyes.
