Macroporous ceramic membrane condenser for water and heat recovery from flue gas

Liehui Xiao et al.

Summary: In this study, the heat and mass transfer mechanisms of a macroporous ceramic membrane condenser (MCMC) were experimentally analyzed, revealing that the condensation rate is the key factor affecting water recovery performance. The thermal resistance was found to be concentrated at the gas side in MCMC. Experimental results showed that the Sherwood numbers of the membrane were larger than the predicted values, possibly due to the hydrophilic properties of the membrane surface. Additionally, operating conditions had a significant impact on water and heat recovery performance in the MCMC system.
