First example of engineered beta-cyclodextrinylated MEMS devices for volatile pheromone sensing of olive fruit pests

Parikshit Moitra et al.

Summary: The translation analyzes the preference for olive oil, the challenges in large-scale production due to olive fruit pests, and the use of covalently functionalized MEMS devices for selective detection of the female sex pheromone of the olive fruit pest Bactocera oleae. It further explains the specific devices used and their correlation with the detection limit of the olive pheromone, highlighting the potential commercial application of this technology.

Stability characteristics of cantilever nanobiosensors with simple and complex molecules for determination of cadmium

Sandra Cristina Ballen et al.

Summary: Cantilever nanobiosensors based on different receptor molecules were developed for cadmium detection, with devices using complex receptor molecules showing higher sensitivity and lower detection limits. However, stability was affected after long-term storage.

Graphene Oxide/Urease Nanobiosensor Applied for Cadmium Detection in River Water

Sandra Cristina Ballen et al.

Summary: The study introduced an ultrasensitive nanobiosensor based on graphene oxide and urease for detecting cadmium in river water, which demonstrated high sensitivity and low detection limit. The nanobiosensor showed satisfactory response to different physical and chemical characteristics and had minimal interference from other species in the water samples.

Sexual pheromone detection using PANI•Ag nanohybrid and PANI/PSS nanocomposite nanosensors

Janine Martinazzo et al.

Summary: In this study, polyaniline/poly(styrene sulfonate) (PANI/PSS) nanocomposite and polyaniline center dot silver (PANI center dot Ag) nanohybrid thin films were successfully prepared for gas sensing of sexual pheromones from the neotropical brown stink bug. Both nanosensors showed similar sensitivities, but the PANI center dot Ag nanohybrid nanosensor had a lower limit of detection, making it a promising candidate for the detection of sexual pheromones. UV-vis and FTIR analysis confirmed the incorporation of Ag nanoparticles in the nanohybrid sensing layer, which contributed to the improved detection performance.
