Origin of δ13C minimum events in thermocline and intermediate waters of the western South Atlantic

R. A. Nascimento et al.

Summary: This study presents high-resolution data of carbon isotopes in the Western South Atlantic, revealing the widespread occurrence of carbon isotope minimum events during glacial terminations and transitions. Different mechanisms were identified for the occurrence of carbon isotope minima at different depths in the Atlantic Ocean.

Compiled Southern Ocean sea surface temperatures correlate with Antarctic Isotope Maxima

H. J. Anderson et al.

Summary: The study compiled 14 high-resolution sea surface temperature records, revealing the relationship between Southern Ocean temperature changes during Marine Isotope Stage 3 and Antarctic Isotope Maximum events. Stacked data shows a consistent signal with AIM events in the Antarctic.

Control of oceanic circulation on sediment distribution in the southwestern Atlantic margin (23 to 55° S)

Michel Michaelovitch de Mahiques et al.

Summary: This study uses radiogenic Nd and Pb isotopes to interpret the role of ocean circulation in sediment distribution on the southwestern Atlantic margin. The latitudinal trends for Pb and Nd isotopes are influenced by different current systems, and the sediment fingerprinting method allows the association of isotopic signatures with main oceanographic features in the area.
