Between the devil and the deep blue sea: herbivory induces foraging for and uptake of cadmium in a metal hyperaccumulating plant

Summary: This study found that simulated herbivory enhances root foraging and uptake of cadmium in the metal-hyperaccumulating plant Arabidopsis halleri, particularly in plants from non-metalliferous origin. Plants from a metalliferous origin did not show preference in root allocation but exhibited enhanced Cd sharing between ramets when exposed to herbivory.
