The Danish OPUS Early Intervention Services for First-Episode Psychosis: A Phase 4 Prospective Cohort Study With Comparison of Randomized Trial and Real-World Data

Christine Merrild Posselt et al.

Summary: The study found that patients who received OPUS treatment after implementation showed lower mortality rates, fewer psychiatric admissions, and possibly fewer prescriptions of antipsychotics compared to those in the trial group. Additionally, patients who received postimplementation OPUS treatment had better odds of being employed and in a relationship than those in the trial group. Overall, the control group in the trial had worse outcomes compared to both OPUS treatment groups.

The Paradox of Help-Seeking Behaviour in Psychosis

Julie Nordgaard et al.

Summary: It is not well understood what motivates individuals with psychosis to seek help or how the process of seeking help may be complicated by psychosis. In a qualitative study involving nine patients with a first episode of psychosis, it was found that most patients did not initially recognize their experiences as symptoms of a mental disorder when seeking help. Instead, the decision to seek help was often driven by social factors rather than by a clear understanding of their condition.
