Artificial intelligence forecasting models of uniaxial compressive strength

Arsalan Mahmoodzadeh et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the prediction performance of the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of various rock types from different quarry locations in Iran using computational intelligence methods. The results showed that computational intelligence approaches are capable of accurately predicting UCS, with Gaussian process regression (GPR) performing the best.

Empirical Estimation of Uniaxial Compressive Strength of Rock: Database of Simple, Multiple, and Artificial Intelligence-Based Regressions

Adeyemi Emman Aladejare et al.

Summary: Numerous empirical relationships for estimating Uniaxial Compressive Strength (UCS) of rock from other rock properties are scattered in literature, making it challenging to select an appropriate model. This study focuses on developing a database of empirical relationships between UCS and other rock properties, analyzing regression equations statistically, and evaluating their consistency with reasonable data quantity and moderate to high R-2 values for accurate UCS estimation in specific sites.

Characterization of the Petrographic and Physicomechanical Properties of Rocks from Otanmaki, Finland

Adeyemi Emman Aladejare

Summary: This paper documented the physical and mechanical properties of gabbro and granite rocks from quarries in Otanmaki, Finland through petrographic and X-ray fluorescence analyses, as well as physical and mechanical tests. The results showed that the investigated rock properties have variability from low to high. Regression analyses were performed to develop useful predictive models for estimating Brazilian tensile strength from physical test results.
