Chromosome 10q26-driven age-related macular degeneration is associated with reduced levels of HTRA1 in human retinal pigment epithelium

Brandi L. Williams et al.

Summary: Research has shown that the HTRA1 gene in the 10q26 locus is downregulated in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and this is mediated by a noncoding, cis-regulatory element overlapping the ARMS2 intron, potentially leading to an increased risk of disease.

Integrative analysis of the choroid by quantifying Haller vessel and choriocapillaris parameters in different drusen subtypes

Hyungwoo Lee et al.

Summary: The study aimed to quantify Haller vessel and choriocapillaris (CC) parameters in different drusen subtypes in nonexudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and pachydrusen. Results showed that different drusen subtypes had variations in the parameters of Haller vessels and CC, with the pachydrusen group showing the largest Haller vessel area and diameter. Quantifying these parameters can provide a better understanding of the differences in these conditions.

Geographic Atrophy Progression Is Associated With Choriocapillaris Flow Deficits Measured With Optical Coherence Tomographic Angiography

Qi Sheng You et al.

Summary: Baseline choriocapillaris flow deficits were significantly associated with faster geographic atrophy enlargement, indicating potential role of choriocapillaris perfusion outside the atrophy area in the progression of geographic atrophy.
