One-step synthesis of single palladium atoms in WO2.72 with high efficiency in chemoselective hydrodeoxygenation of vanillin

Zhijun Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a one-step synthetic approach to fabricate a catalyst with atomically dispersed palladium atoms bonded covalently to nearby oxygen atoms, which shows outstanding catalytic performance and stability in the hydrodeoxygenation of vanillin. This high activity is attributed to the unique electronic structure of isolated palladium atoms confined in defective WO2.72, paving the way for the advancement of single atom catalysis through a coordination-engineered strategy.

Pd-Cu Alloy Nanoparticles Confined within Mesoporous Hollow Carbon Spheres for the Hydrogenation of CO2 to Formate

Guoxiang Yang et al.

Summary: High-performance heterogeneous catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation, such as the optimized Pd2Cu14-N@MHCS catalyst, show great potential with a high turnover number (TON) of 1432 at 100 degrees C after 24 h. Experimental and theoretical analyses indicate that Pd atoms are well isolated by Cu atoms through a Pd-Cu alloy when the Pd/Cu molar ratio is 2:14.

MoOx-Decorated Co-Based Catalysts toward the Hydrodeoxygenation Reaction of Biomass-Derived Platform Molecules

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: A stepwise method was developed to prepare Co-MoOx catalysts from Mo/CoAl-LDH precursors. The catalyst reduced at 500 degrees C (Co-MoOx-500) exhibited excellent catalytic performance in the hydrodeoxygenation reaction of biomass-derived platform molecules, particularly in the conversion of LA to GVL. Interfacial Co delta+ sites in Co-MoOx-500 played a crucial role in promoting C=O hydrogenation and C=O cleavage, while the MoOx overlayer helped suppress the formation of byproducts.

Highly Dispersed Pd on Zeolite/Carbon Nanocomposites for Selective Hydrodeoxygenation of Biomass-Derived Molecules under Mild Conditions

Rui Zong et al.

Summary: The Pd/CFR@HZSM-5 catalysts exhibit excellent catalytic activity for the selective HDO of biomass-derived molecules, thanks to their unique high-dispersion Pd structure and abundant surface defects. Additionally, the acidic sites in the composite carrier catalyst replace the need for acidic additives in previous catalytic systems. The optimal Pd/CFR@HZSM-5(2:1) catalysts maintain good performance even after five uses and can be applied to various biomass HDO models under mild conditions.
