An optimization framework for opportunistic planning of preventive maintenance activities

Summary: Methodologies for designing maintenance policies, such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), provide a list of recommended preventive maintenance (PM) activities and their periodicity to comply with safety and reliability standards. An optimization framework for medium-term opportunistic planning of PM activities on a single machine is proposed, aiming to minimize the number of stoppages by grouping executions based on time window tolerances. Results suggest that significant reductions in stoppages can be achieved by grouping activities with more heterogeneous periodicities.
