Mothers' and Children's Mental Health During the COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown: The Mediating Role of Parenting Stress

Alessandra Babore et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mental health of mothers and children during the COVID-19 lockdown in Italy. The findings showed higher levels of individual distress and parenting stress in mothers, as well as higher levels of depression in children, compared to normative samples. Mothers' parenting stress was found to mediate the relationship between mothers' distress and children's depression. The study also found that children's biological sex and age did not moderate this association.
