Thermal study of APNIMMO/CL-20 based propellants fabricated by 3D printing

Manman Li et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the development of energetic photocurable binders for 3D printed propellants, with a significant emphasis on thermal decomposition analysis. The thermal performance and decomposition kinetics were investigated using nonisothermal DSC techniques, with further confirmation through simultaneous DSC-FTIR analysis. Kinetic studies were used to compute Arrhenius parameters, and decomposition products were detected through in-situ DSC-MS-FTIR analysis.

Effect of pressure on TATB and LX-17 thermal decomposition

Alan K. Burnham et al.

Summary: The study investigates the thermal decomposition of TATB and its formulation LX-17 at different pressures, finding that an increase in pressure significantly increases the enthalpy of the reaction. The experimental results suggest that the thermal decomposition of TATB follows a multistep autocatalytic mechanism, with pressure having a negligible effect on the autocatalytic species.
