Design and thermodynamics analysis of marine dual fuel low speed engine with methane reforming integrated high pressure exhaust gas recirculation system

Jinbo Qu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a system consisting of a fuel reformer and a high-pressure EGR natural gas engine to achieve a balance between fuel efficiency and emission control. Through this system, engine efficiency can be improved while reducing methane slip and controlling NOx emissions, saving costs and meeting the IMO Tier III standards.

Particle emissions from a marine diesel engine burning two kinds of sulphur diesel oils with an EGR & scrubber system: Size, number & mass

Zhanguang Wang et al.

Summary: IMO has implemented strict regulations to reduce marine diesel engine emissions. This paper investigates the use of an EGR system combined with a scrubber to reduce particulate matter emissions from a marine diesel engine. The results show that this system has a significant effect in removing particles and complies with emission standards in China and the US.

Design and performance evaluation of low-speed marine diesel engine selective catalytic reduction system

Kubilay Bayramoglu et al.

Summary: SCR systems are effective in reducing NOX emissions in internal combustion engines by analyzing the performance parameters of marine SCR systems using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Increasing the amount of injected urea-water solution reduces NOX emissions but increases the risk of NH3 slip, while increasing the opening of the SCR bypass valve reduces pressure loss. However, increasing the bypass valve opening reduces NOX reduction performance and increases NH3 slip.
