Seroprevalence of and Risk Factors Associated with Exposure to Brucella Spp. in Dairy Cattle in Three Different Agroecological Zones in Rwanda

Summary: Livestock production is crucial for poverty alleviation, food security, and economic growth in Rwanda. The study aimed to estimate the seroprevalence of Brucella spp. in dairy farms and cattle in three different agroecological zones in Rwanda. The results revealed that herd size, main breed, and geographic location were associated with the seroprevalence of brucellosis in cattle, highlighting the importance of implementing control measures to reduce disease transmission in pastoral systems.

Determination of Seroprevalence of Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia and Associated Risk Factors in Goats and Sheep Using Classification and Regression Tree

Summary: By using the CART data mining model, the seroprevalence of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia in goats and sheep was determined along with the associated risk factors. Older animals, flock size >= 200, and communal feeding and watering were identified as key factors for the disease. The CART model showed higher accuracy than traditional logistic regression, highlighting flock size as the most important risk factor.
