Hypoglycemic Effect of Hydrophobic BCAA Peptides Is Associated with Altered PI3K/Akt Protein Expression

Xiping Zhu et al.

Summary: The hydrophobic branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) peptides from seabuckthorn seed protein show promising hypoglycemic activities in type 2 diabetic db/db mice. Oral administration of these BCAA peptides can significantly reverse diabetic symptoms, improve insulin resistance, reduce fasting blood glucose levels, and increase muscle glycogen content. Additionally, BCAA peptides alleviate insulin resistance through altered PI3K/Akt protein expression in the skeletal muscle of db/db mice.

Calcium Dobesilate Reverses Cognitive Deficits and Anxiety-Like Behaviors in the D-Galactose-Induced Aging Mouse Model through Modulation of Oxidative Stress

Elham Hakimizadeh et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that calcium dobesilate (CaD) could reverse the body weight loss, anxiety-like behaviors, and cognitive impairments induced by D-galactose treatment, while also exhibiting antioxidant properties. CaD treatment not only reduced malondialdehyde levels in the brains of aging mice, but also increased the activities of superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase enzymes.
