Engineering of polybutylene succinate with long-chain branching toward high foamability and degradation

Peng Chen et al.

Summary: Long-chain branched polybutylene succinate (PBS) was successfully prepared by introducing LCB structures, which enhanced the foamability. LCB-PBS showed a wider foaming window and higher expansion ratio, while the cell morphology and expansion ratio of foamed sample can be adjusted by changing the LCB degree.

Melt and solution processable novel photoluminescent polymer blends for multifaceted advanced applications

Suman Thakur et al.

Summary: A cost-effective photoluminescence polymer with properties independent of the excitation wavelength was synthesized using a simple one-step technique. The polymer was successfully incorporated into different polymer blends, improving their thermal, mechanical, and photoluminescent properties, demonstrating good dispersion within the polymeric matrix. The study explored potential applications of the photoluminescence polymer blends, paving the way for the development of photoluminescent materials for various applications.

Effect of alcohols-regulated crystallization on foaming process and cell morphology of polypropylene

Xiulu Gao et al.

Summary: The research found that adding alcohol co-blowing agent can regulate the melt and crystallization behavior of polypropylene, significantly affecting the formation of foam. The molecular weight of alcohols can impact the diffusion coefficient of blowing agents in polypropylene, while also reducing the crystallization temperature and crystallinity.

Rheological and foaming behaviors of long-chain branched polyamide 6 with controlled branch length

Menglong Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of long-chain branched polyamide 6 samples (LCB PA6s) with well-defined branch length were successfully fabricated via reactive extrusion using various linear PA6s as reactive materials. The GPC-rheology method was used to demonstrate the existence of LCB topological structure and quantitatively determine the relative branch length for three LCB PA6s. Rheological characterization showed that increasing branch length resulted in enhanced elastic response and melt strength of PA6s. Additionally, the melt foamability of these LCB PA6s was verified through batch foaming experiments with supercritical CO2 as the blowing agent, showing potential for large-scale production via continuous extrusion foaming process.
