Structural and thermal analysis of bio-based polybenzoxazine derived from liquefied empty fruit bunch (EFB) via solventless method

Nurfatin Farhanah Rohimi et al.

Summary: A bio-based polybenzoxazine with excellent thermal properties was synthesized using phenolic and its derivatives derived from liquefaction of empty fruit bunch (EFB) fibers. Compared to a guaiacol polybenzoxazine, the liquefied EFB polybenzoxazine exhibited higher thermal stability and reactivity.

Hazelnut Shells as Source of Active Ingredients: Extracts Preparation and Characterization

Alessandro Di Michele et al.

Summary: Hazelnut shells, a waste product from hazelnut harvest, contain polyphenols with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Pre-soaking was found to enhance the extraction of various compounds, while the use of high-power ultrasonic method had varying effects depending on compound type and extraction time. Overall, the extracts showed antioxidant activity and inhibitory effects on bacterial growth.

Effect of hybridization on properties of tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.) seed nano-powder incorporated jute-hemp fibers reinforced epoxy composites

A. Felix Sahayaraj et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the effects of adding tamarind seed powder and hybrid natural fibers of hemp and jute on the characteristics of polymer nano-composites by varying fiber content. The experimental results show that composites with 40% jute fibers and 10% hemp fibers have lower porosity due to good compatibility between the matrix and fibers.

Natural fillers as reinforcement for closed-molded polyurethane foam plaques: Mechanical, morphological, and thermal properties

Syed Muhammad Husainie et al.

Summary: Natural fillers like cellulose, chitin, hazelnut, and eggshell were added to polyurethane foam in varying percentages in this study, showing improvements in tensile strength and resilience with 1% fiber loading. However, split tear properties decreased. Morphological analysis confirmed uniform dispersion of fillers. This study supports the potential for a sustainable future by replacing synthetic fillers with natural alternatives in various industries.
