Tailoring dielectric properties of natural rubber/millable polyurethane elastomer blends by filler embedding

Renu Jose et al.

Summary: The dielectric properties of NR/MPU blends have been effectively improved by adding nanofillers, leading to enhancements in capacitance, dielectric permittivity, loss factor, volume resistivity, and electrical impedance. The improvement is attributed to the development of micro-capacitance structures in the NR/MPU matrix, promoting relaxation processes based on interfacial polarization and segmental mobility.

Transport mechanism and diffusion kinetics of kerosene through polynorbornene rubber/natural rubber blends

Nand Kumar et al.

Summary: Blends of polynorbornene rubber and natural rubber with varying compositions were examined for their swelling behavior in kerosene at different temperatures. Transport parameters and sorption kinetics were estimated, and the experimental data were best fitted with the Peppas-Sahlin model. SEM analysis revealed the morphology of the blends, and mechanical testing was conducted to evaluate their stability.

Natural rubber composites filled with zinc ferrite nanoparticles: focus on structural, morphological, curing, thermal and mechanical properties

K. Parvathi et al.

Summary: Metal oxide nanofillers, such as zinc ferrite nanoparticles, improve the thermal stability and vulcanization time of natural rubber while enhancing properties like modulus, tensile strength, hardness, and abrasion resistance but reducing elongation at break and resilience. Additionally, the nanoparticles decrease the permeation and diffusion of nanocomposites, thus increasing the solvent resistance of natural rubber.

Preparation, characterization and properties of liquid natural rubber with low non-rubber content via photodegradation

Suhawati Brahim et al.

Summary: Photodegradation of natural rubber latex resulted in the production of low molecular weight liquid natural rubber, with the decomposition of surfactants and non-rubbers affecting the stability of the latex. Anionic surfactants showed better resistance to oxidizing agents and UV radiation compared to non-ionic surfactants, leading to improved stability of the latex. The zeta potential of the latex increased during photodegradation, and nitrogen content decreased while phosphate content increased, indicating the decomposition of non-rubber compounds.

Nguyen Thu Ha et al.

Summary: Epoxidized jackfruit gum (EJG) was prepared and characterized. An attempt was made to prepare a solid polymer electrolyte from EJG, showing improved ion conductivity attributed to the strong interaction between EJG and LiClO4. The epoxy group content of the sample reached 95 mol% after treatment, leading to enhanced ion conductivity.

Fabrication, characterization, dielectric properties, thermal stability, flame retardancy and transport behavior of chlorinated nitrile rubber/hydroxyapatite nanocomposites

A. Nihmath et al.

Summary: This study focused on the preparation of chlorinated nitrile rubber (Cl-NBR)/hydroxyapatite (HA) nanocomposites using an open two-roll mixing mill, and characterized their formation, dielectric properties, flame retardancy, diffusion and permeation properties of petroleum solvents. The incorporation of HA in Cl-NBR was confirmed by FTIR analysis, and the nanocomposites showed improved thermal stability and flame resistance with increasing HA loading. The study also found that the dielectric constant decreased with increasing frequency, and the solvent resistance properties were enhanced in the composite containing 7 phr HA sample.
