Enhanced Heterogeneous Diffusion of Nanoparticles in Semiflexible Networks

Ziyang Xu et al.

Summary: Through large-scale molecular simulations and theoretical analysis, it was found that nanoparticles in polymer networks with semiflexible strands exhibit enhanced heterogeneous diffusion characterized by hopping dynamics, with the hopping energy barrier approximating to linear dependence on confinement parameters in the regime of moderate rigidity. This nonmonotonic feature is attributed to the competition between conformation entropy and bending energy regulated by chain rigidity.

Sliding dynamics of ring chain on a knotted polymer in rotaxane

Fuchen Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, the sliding dynamics of ring chains on a knotted polymer chain in Rotaxane was investigated, revealing a sub-diffusion phenomenon due to intra-strand interactions. The non-monotonous dependence of sliding diffusion coefficient on ring size suggests two competing effects, and a new approach to estimate the average knot size of the knotted axial chain was proposed and found to be in good agreement with the calculation result.

Crack velocity dependent toughness of polyrotaxane networks: The sliding dynamics of rings on polymer under stretching

Chang Liu et al.

Summary: In the study on slide-ring gels, it was found that the fracture toughness decreases significantly when crack velocities exceed a critical value, as the sliding motion of the rings cannot keep up with the high deformation rates. From the critical transition velocity, the characteristic time scale of sliding dynamics was estimated to be on the order of microseconds under the assumption of single-layer fracture.

On the Time Transition Between Short- and Long-Time Regimes of Colloidal Particles in External Periodic Potentials

Daniela Perez-Guerrero et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamics of colloidal particles at infinite dilution under periodic external potentials through experiments and numerical simulations. Both experimental analysis and Brownian dynamics simulations provide consistent results for the motion of colloidal tracers in various potential fields. The critical time t* remains constant as a function of the height barrier of the potential or the escape probability, indicating a transition between short- and long-time diffusion regimes.

Pseudo-Polyrotaxane Stereocomplex with α-Cyclodextrin and Block Copolymers Using Poly(ethylene glycol) and Polylactide

JaeYeong Choi et al.

Summary: This study identified the presence of alpha-CD near the PEG moiety in BCP, leading to the formation of stereocomplex with the PLA moiety even after PPRXs were formed. It also provides insights into the method of forming PLA SC with PPRX, and the preparation of PLA-PPRXs using PLA-BCP and alpha-CD components.

Sliding dynamics of multi-rings on a semiflexible polymer in poly[n]catenanes

Ke Li et al.

Summary: The diffusion coefficient changes with the bending energy of the central cyclic polymer, depending on whether it is fixed or fluctuating. Multiple-ring structures exhibit unique sub-diffusive behavior at intermediate time scales due to repulsion between neighboring rings. The dynamics of threading rings and the central cyclic polymer in multi-ring systems are faster compared to the overall diffusion rate.
