eHealth supported multi-months dispensing of antiretroviral therapy: a mixed-methods preference assessment in rural Lesotho

Ramona Scherrer et al.

Summary: The study in Lesotho rural clinic found that the majority of HIV patients preferred a 6-12 month multi-month dispensing of antiretroviral therapy, and appreciated additional eHealth support such as receiving viral load results via SMS, telemedical nurse consultations, and automated tuberculosis symptom screening calls. These eHealth supported MMD packages appear to be promising for differentiated service delivery models and should be further evaluated in larger studies for clinical endpoints and cost-effectiveness.
