Fatigue, induced via repetitive upper-limb motor tasks, influences trunk and shoulder kinematics during an upper limb reaching task in a virtual reality environment

Frederique Dupuis et al.

Summary: This study investigated how fatigue affects shoulder movements during upper limb reaching. The results showed that in a fatigued state, there were changes in movement strategy, including increased trunk and sternoclavicular movements and less glenohumeral movement. The Fatigue group also exhibited a decrease in movement speed and no improvement in accuracy, unlike the Control group which showed improvements in speed and accuracy after the experiment.

The influence of using exoskeletons during occupational tasks on acute physical stress and strain compared to no exoskeleton - A systematic review and meta-analysis

Mona Baer et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effects of using an exoskeleton during occupational tasks on physical stress and strain, showing that using an exoskeleton can reduce acute physical stress and strain in the exoskeleton's target area. However, the impact on workers' health is still uncertain due to lack of long-term evaluations under real working conditions.

Muscle activity and scapular kinematics in individuals with multidirectional shoulder instability: A systematic review

Valentien Spanhove et al.

Summary: The study found evidence of altered muscle activity and shoulder kinematics in individuals with multidirectional shoulder instability (MDI) compared to healthy controls. MDI individuals showed increased or prolonged activity of certain rotator cuff muscles and decreased activity of muscles that move or accelerate the arm, as well as less upward rotation and more internal rotation of the scapula during arm elevation in the scapular plane. Additionally, MDI individuals demonstrated increased translations of the humeral head relative to the glenoid surface.

Evaluation of the usability of an actively actuated arm support

Audrey Lebrasseur et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the usability of dynamic arm supports for people with upper limb disabilities, finding that using an actuated arm support significantly improved participants' functional rating, range of motion, strength, precision of gross movements, and prehension patterns. Most participants were satisfied with the arm support and positive about its usefulness in daily living activities.
