Robust identification of low-Cd rice varieties by boosting the genotypic effect of grain Cd accumulation in combination with marker-assisted selection

Liang Sun et al.

Summary: By establishing a normalization approach utilizing comparative grain-Cd values (CCd) and identifying genetic loci responsible for CCd variation, a low-grain-Cd rice variety named 'Lushansimiao' was successfully developed. This variety, along with six others identified as low-grain-Cd rice, provides a promising solution to mitigating the risk of excess Cd accumulation in rice by efficiently quantifying the genetic nature of grain-Cd accumulation.
