Physiological and biochemical characterization of six Prunus rootstocks in response to flooding

Summary: In response to flooding, low-chill stone fruit rootstocks showed reduced net CO2 assimilation and nutrient contents, while antioxidant activities and osmolyte concentrations increased. Rootstocks MP-29 and R5064-5 exhibited higher tolerance and antioxidant activities, making them better suited for subtropical areas prone to flooding. Antioxidant activities and osmolyte concentrations may play a key role in mitigating oxidative damage caused by flooding stress in Prunus rootstocks.
