Plant Sources Responsible for the Chemical Composition and Main Bioactive Properties of Poplar-Type Propolis

Daniel Severus Dezmirean et al.

Summary: Propolis is a resinous mixture made by honeybees from substances collected from tree or other plant sources, and its geographical origin is influenced by plant sources. Poplar-type propolis is the most widespread in the world, mainly sourced from poplar trees but with contributions from other plants as well. The aim of research is to identify the chemical composition and activities of plant resins and balms used by bees to produce propolis and compare them with similar products from other geographical regions.
