Dynamics of droplet impact on a ring surface

Chensen Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, the dynamics of droplet impacts on a ring-decorated solid surface were investigated using many-body dissipative particle dynamics (MDPD). The results show that the ring does not provide the majority of vertical force to redirect the horizontal spreading of droplets. The impact force is influenced by the height and radius of the ring.

Operator learning for predicting multiscale bubble growth dynamics

Chensen Lin et al.

Summary: This study explores the use of deep operator networks (DeepONet) to learn dynamics at different scales and demonstrates their accuracy and effectiveness in predicting multirate bubble growth dynamics. Results show that properly trained DeepONets can accurately predict macroscale bubble growth dynamics and outperform long short-term memory networks with only a few new measurements.

Quantitative prediction of rolling dynamics of leukocyte-inspired microroller in blood flow

Xiaojing Qi et al.

Summary: This study develops a mesoscopic model of a WBC-inspired microroller to investigate its locomotion behavior under different shear stresses and magnetic torques. The microroller can roll along with or against the blood flow depending on the competition between magnetic torque and fluid shear stress; it can achieve precise navigation under low shear stress levels; the effect of blood hematocrit significantly alters the motion of the microroller, especially under high hematocrit levels; and the microroller can navigate along a user-defined path in a bifurcating microfluidic channel.

A many-body dissipative particle dynamics study of eccentric droplets impacting inclined fiber

Chenyang Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of droplets on fiber and found that the results were in good agreement with experimental results. The research explored the influence of various factors such as droplet eccentricity, fiber tilt angle, and wettability on collision results, providing important guidance for actual production and life.

Many-body dissipative particle dynamics study of droplet impact on superhydrophobic spheres with different size

Xinxin Li et al.

Summary: The study found through simulations that the wrapping angle of droplets impacting superhydrophobic solid spheres is influenced by the initial impact velocity and sphere size. Four spreading types can be identified under different impact conditions. Bouncing type is more likely to occur at low impact velocities, while dripping type is favored at high impact velocities.

Reducing droplet contact time and area by craterlike surface structure

Chensen Lin et al.

Summary: This paper presents an alternative strategy for reducing the interaction parameter between rebounding droplets and solid surfaces by designing craterlike structures, which can decrease the contact time and area by over 75%. Systematic investigations on the parameters of craterlike structures using a particle-based numerical method offer a new approach for the design and preparation technology of functional surfaces.
