Revealing pion and kaon structure via generalised parton distributions

K. Raya et al.

Summary: Observable measures provide clear windows into emergent hadron mass and its modulations by Higgs boson interactions, which can be accessed through generalised parton distributions (GPDs). Analysis reveals various properties and predictions, such as stiffness differences between gravitational and electromagnetic form factors, tightness of K pressure profiles compared to pi profiles, and similar fraction of meson mass-squared carried by glue and sea combined as with the valence degrees-of-freedom.

Pion generalized parton distributions: A path toward phenomenology

Jose Manuel Morgado Chavez et al.

Summary: We introduce a new family of generalized parton distribution models that satisfy all the theoretical properties imposed by QCD. These models are constructed based on standard parton distribution functions and extended to off-forward kinematics using a well-defined procedure. We apply this strategy to the pion and compare the results with a more standard model obtained from an xFitter extraction. The calculated quark and gluon generalized parton distributions are then used to calculate electromagnetic, gravitational, and Compton form factors. The results highlight the importance of next-to-leading-order corrections even in the valence region.

Higgs modulation of emergent mass as revealed in kaon and pion parton distributions

Z-F Cui et al.

Summary: The study discusses the distribution functions of K mesons, compares them with similar distributions of π mesons, and reveals how their light-front momentum is shared. The research provides the first parameter-free predictions for K distribution functions, emphasizing the need for new experiments sensitive to all K and π DFs.

Contact interaction analysis of pion GTMDs

Jin-Li Zhang et al.

Summary: The size and shape of GTMDs for pions are largely determined by the scale of emergent hadronic mass, and the hardness of their mass distribution form factor is found to be larger than the electromagnetic form factor, which is in turn harder than the gravitational pressure distribution form factor. The pressure in the vicinity of the pion's core is comparable to that at the center of a neutron star, and the shear pressure reaches its maximum when confinement forces dominate within the pion.

Fermion and photon gap-equations in Minkowski space within the Nakanishi integral representation method

Cedric Mezrag et al.

Summary: The Nakanishi integral representation method is extended to treat the self-energies of a fermion and a (IR-regulated) vector boson in order to apply it to both gap- and Bethe-Salpeter equations in Minkowski space. The resulting 6-channel coupled system of integral equations allows for determining the three Kallen-Lehman weights for dressing the propagators of fermion and photon. This formal elaboration provides a viable tool in Minkowski space for phenomenological investigations of strongly interacting theories within a QFT framework.

Global QCD Analysis of Pion Parton Distributions with Threshold Resummation

P. C. Barry et al.

Summary: In a global QCD analysis, different treatments of valence quark distribution lead to significant differences at large x values, with resummation boosting the total momentum carried by gluons to approximately 40%. The redistribution induced by resummation increases the gluon contribution to the pion mass to approximately 40 MeV.

Gluon parton distribution of the pion from lattice QCD

Zhouyou Fan et al.

Summary: In this study, the x-dependent pion gluon distribution from lattice QCD using the pseudo-PDF approach is determined for the first time. The results show that the dependence of the pion gluon parton distribution on lattice spacing and pion mass is mild across different lattice spacings and pion masses. Comparisons with other global fits are also made to validate the findings.

An analysis of parton distribution functions of the pion and the kaon with the maximum entropy input

Chengdong Han et al.

Summary: Pion and kaon parton distribution functions are derived through a global QCD analysis, with sea quarks and gluons generated from parton splitting processes. High Q(2) valence and sea quark distributions are in agreement with experimental measurements, while the asymptotic behaviors of parton distribution functions are studied for both pion and kaon at small and large x. Additionally, the first three moments of parton distributions at high Q(2) scale align with other theoretical predictions.

Revealing the structure of light pseudoscalar mesons at the electron-ion collider

J. Arrington et al.

Summary: The emergence of the bulk of the Universe's visible mass and the mechanisms behind the structure of hadrons are profound questions that are being investigated through the study of pseudoscalar mesons like the pion and kaon. Different approaches such as continuum QCD phenomenology, lattice-regularised QCD, and global analysis of parton distributions are being utilized to explore the partonic structure and mass mechanisms of these mesons. Experimental measurements, including those from the anticipated electron-ion collider, will provide valuable insights into the structures of pions and kaons, aiding in a better understanding of their properties and roles in QCD.

Resolving the Bethe-Salpeter Kernel

Si-Xue Qin et al.

Summary: A novel method for constructing a kernel for the meson bound-state problem is described, which can remedy many defects of widely used meson bound-state kernels and foster new synergies between continuum and lattice approaches to strong interactions. The presence of a dressed-quark anomalous magnetic moment in the scheme can correct mass splittings between vector and axial-vector mesons, as well as level ordering of pseudoscalar and vector meson radial excitations.

Electron-ion collider in China

Daniele P. Anderle et al.

Summary: The EicC project in China proposes to construct an Electron-ion collider based on an upgraded heavy-ion accelerator, providing highly polarized electrons and protons with variable center of mass energies. The main goals include precise measurements of nucleon structure, partonic structure of nuclei, interaction with nuclear environment, and exotic states with heavy flavor quark contents. A hermetical detector system with cutting-edge technologies will be constructed to achieve these physics goals.

Regarding the Distribution of Glue in the Pion

Lei Chang et al.

Summary: Understanding the difference in the scale of emergent hadron mass in proton and pion may require mapping and comparing the distribution functions of all partons within each. The difficulty in predicting the proton's distribution functions lies in it being a three-body bound-state problem, while the pion's two-body problem allows for more accurate predictions. The alignment of theory in this area is promising, especially with experimental facilities now able to test rigorous theory predictions concerning Nambu-Goldstone bosons.
