Adsorption on Metallic Edges of Transition Metal Dichalcogenides

Daphne Davelou et al.

Summary: 2D semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have attracted interest for optoelectronics, catalysis, and energy applications. In this study, density functional theory calculations were performed to investigate the atomic structure, energetics, and electronic structure of metal edges of two MX2 (M = Mo, W and X = S, Se) materials. The results showed that the edges of MX2 have higher activity and a variety of adsorption behaviors. The adsorption energies can be tuned for catalytic applications such as water splitting and hydrogen evolution.

Triple-phase electrocatalysis for the enhanced CO2 reduction to HCOOH on a hydrophobic surface

Pengtao Yue et al.

Summary: Introducing a hydrophobic surface on Cu/Sn nanowires can significantly improve the Faraday efficiency for HCOOH production and achieve excellent CO2 conversion activity even at high overpotential. The rich triple-phase interfaces at the hydrophobic surface enhance CO2 mass transfer and increase the selectivity of HCOOH, providing a facile and promising approach for improved electrochemical CO2 reduction.

The Effect of the Elements Co and Ni on Wear Behaviour of Bronze Alloys Produced by the Hot Pressing Method

Tulay Yildiz et al.

Summary: In this study, Ni and Co elements were added to Cu-Sn bronze alloys to improve their hardness and wear resistances. The microstructures of the produced samples were examined using SEM images, hardness measurements were conducted, and porosity rates were determined based on Archimedes' principle through density measurements. Additionally, the effects of Ni and Co elements on wear properties of these alloys were investigated.

Influence of Ni foam/Sn composite solder foil on IMC growth and mechanical properties of solder joints bonded with solid-liquid electromigration

Xin Mao et al.

Summary: The addition of Ni foam was found to significantly reduce the grain size of intermetallic compounds (IMCs) and enhance the tensile strength of the joints. However, at high current densities, the excessive coarse grains of IMCs led to a dramatic decrease in tensile strength of the joints.

Enhancing Interfacial Reliability of Metal-Thermoplastic Hybrid Joints via Adding Carbon Fiber and Adjusting Welding Heat Input

Xiaoyang Bi et al.

Summary: The introduction of carbon fibers enhances the mechanical properties but weakens the corrosion resistance of metal-thermoplastic hybrid joints. Adjusting the welding heat input can improve the interfacial reliability of the joints with high strength and corrosion resistance.

Wetting mechanism of Cu3Ni, Cu3Zn, Cu3Sn on diamond surface: A first-principles calculation

Liang Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the wettability mechanism of Cu3Ni, Cu3Sn, and Cu3Zn on diamond surfaces using density functional theory (DFT). The results suggest that the wettability is mainly affected by the enrichment and loss of electronic pair pattern on diamond surfaces, as well as the hybridization of p orbital electronic between Sn atom and C atom.
