Optimization of the Electrochemical Performance of a Composite Polymer Electrolyte Based on PVA-K2CO3-SiO2 Composite

Bashir Abubakar Abdulkadir et al.

Summary: The study optimized a composite polymer electrolyte (CPE) based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer, potassium carbonate (K2CO3) salt, and silica (SiO2) filler to enhance ionic conductivity and potential window for electrochemical devices. Incorporating SiO2 into PVA-K2CO3 composites increased amorphous regions, enhancing ion conduction. The addition of 15 wt.% SiO2 resulted in the highest ionic conductivity at 3.25 x 10(-4) mScm(-1) and 7.86 x 10(-3) mScm(-1) at ambient temperature and 373.15 K, respectively, with a 3.35 V potential window.

Xiaodong Wei et al.

Summary: This paper investigated the effects of CeO2 and Sc2O3 doping on YSZ, where CeO2 increased cell volume and tetragonal degree while Sc2O3 had the opposite effect. The results showed that co-doping with CeO2 and Sc2O3 improved thermal conductivity and provided stability against phase transformation, making CeScYSZ an ideal material for thermal protection at higher temperatures.

Structural, thermal, and mechanical properties of gelatin-based films integrated with tara gum

Luca Nuvoli et al.

Summary: By mixing fish gelatin, Tara gum, and glycerol in different ratios and subjecting Tara gum to ball milling treatment, films with different morphologies can be obtained. The amount of glycerol and the type of Tara gum used strongly influence the morphology and density of the films, which in turn determine the thermal and mechanical behaviors. Improvements in thermal stability and mechanical properties can be achieved by using milled Tara gum or increasing glycerol content, up to 20 wt%. Exceeding this percentage of glycerol is detrimental to film quality and reduces thermal and mechanical performances.
